Wood Fence Types Crum Lynne, Pennsylvania

In Crum Lynne, Pennsylvania, as elsewhere, the cost of wood is not a monolithic figure but rather a diverse spectrum of values reflective of the myriad types available. Hardwoods such as oak and walnut typically command higher prices due to their durability and aesthetic appeal. These woods are often employed in fine furniture and cabinetry, where their pronounced grain patterns and resistance to wear justify the investment.

Conversely, softwoods like pine or spruce come at a more economical price point. Their faster growth rates make them more abundant and thus less expensive than their hardwood counterparts. Softwoods are frequently used in construction for framing houses or creating plywood because they are easier to work with using common tools.

Exotic woods such as mahogany or teak introduce another variable into the equation: import costs. Since these species are not indigenous to regions like Pennsylvania, they must be transported from far-flung locales. This transit inflates their market value considerably when compared to locally sourced lumber.

Sustainability practices also influence wood pricing dynamics in Crum Lynne. Reclaimed wood, rescued from old structures and repurposed, can be costly due to its unique character and the labor-intensive process of salvage and preparation. However, many consumers find value in its history-laden patina and ecological benefits.

The demand for specific wood types can create seasonal fluctuations in costs too. For instance, during winter months when heating requirements surge, woods that serve well for firewood such as hickory might see an uptick in price owing to increased consumption.

In summary, Crum Lynne’s wood market exhibits considerable variation influenced by factors including species type, usage purposes, origin locations, sustainability considerations, and temporal demand shifts. Customers seeking lumber must navigate this complex landscape to procure material that meets both their project needs and budget constraints.

Angi provided me with several contractors, I received estimates but chose Philz Landscaping (even after coming in higher) because he satisfied with his estimate and start date our fervent desire to complete the project before winter set in. Alex, Javier set the example of professionalism in setting up the area to remove fencing and gate, installed vinyl fence with double gate (assisted by Carlos), removed all debris, left my yard spotless and we are extremely satisfied with the new fence and gate. Questions we had were answered (Helena, Phil) promptly and Alex, Javier went above and beyond ensuring my wife’s concerns were taken care of; I want again to Thank the team at Philz Landscaping and recommend highly to perform your project.

Had Phil and his workers come by my house to work on the backyard in May this year. Eliminate weeds, regrade soil and replant grass seed. 158 feet worth of backyard which he estimated $1600 to do. There was a hiccup with his office and scheduling and he wasn't even aware of the set date in mid-May. He rescheduled for the week after and took off $100 for inconvenience. His crew shows up and does the job and weeks after, grass grew....but not fully in corners of the yard. I called him back, voicemail immediately. Got in touch with his office and they said they would pass the message. His response times are atrocious and I told him about the patches in the grass. He says "no problem I'll send guys to evaluate and re-seed". They show up and do the job again. By mid-July, weeds are growing in very strong and grass is dying at exceedingly high rate despite me watering. I called him back and he says "that's odd, I'll come by this afternoon or tomorrow" in September when I finally get a hold of him. He never shows up or responds to texts or further calls. The photos below are post-lawn work with visible patches and weeds. I had to spend additional monies on top soil, grass seed and water to correct the loss of 50% of the lawn!! If you want an overpriced job not done right, Phil is your guy!!

Philz Landscaping built 2 patios on my property. One is flagstone and the other is pavers with a retaining wall. Both are absolutely beautiful. Working with Phil and his team has been a great experience. I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for reliability, quality, and reasonable pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions

The most common types of wood used for fence installations in Crum Lynne include cedar, pressure-treated pine, redwood, and spruce. Each type offers different characteristics in terms of durability, resistance to decay and insects, and aesthetic appeal.
Cedar is typically the most expensive due to its longevity and natural resistance to rot and insects. Redwood also commands a higher price for similar reasons. Pressure-treated pine is more affordable and widely available but may have shorter lifespan than cedar or redwood. Spruce is usually the least expensive option but is less durable compared to other woods.
Yes, external factors such as availability of wood species locally, transport costs, market demand fluctuations, and trade policies can all impact the cost variation among different wood types. Additionally, treatment processes for certain woods like pressure-treated lumber can add to costs.
Certain woods may require additional treatments or maintenance to enhance their durability or maintain their appearance over time which can lead to higher costs long-term. For example, cedar might need staining or sealing every few years to protect it from weathering while pressure-treated lumber might not need immediate treatment but will likely require replacement sooner due to potential warping or cracking over time.
